Auburn has put itself in a great position heading into the Iron Bowl against Alabama.

The Tigers improved to 9-2 Saturday after a win over Louisiana Monroe. Auburn came into the weekend ranked No. 6 in the Playoff Top 25 and are now one win away from heading to the SEC Championship Game.

The Tigers do have two losses on the season but still appear to have a shot at making this year’s Playoff. Auburn put up an incredible win over No. 1 Georgia and has another chance to make a statement in the matchup with No. 1 Alabama.

Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham was asked about the matchup after beating ULM, and he is excited for the challenge Alabama presents:

“I am excited,” said Stidham. “This is why you play here at Auburn, for games like this against a team like Alabama. They are a very good team, and we are going to have to play our best ball to beat them. It is going to be fun.”

WR Ryan Davis provided a simple explanation when asked about the matchup:

“I mean, it’s Alabama,” Davis explained. “You don’t really have to say too much. It’s a big game. They are a great team. Year-in and year-out, they are at the top of college football and we just have to come with our A-game.”

Star RB Kerryon Johnson commented on the game, and he said the atmosphere at Jordan-Hare Stadium will be a good one:

“It’s going to be a crazy atmosphere,” said Johnson. “It should be one for the ages, but we’ve got to come out and play because if we don’t we’ll lose. We’ve got to protect the ball. We’ve got to limit our penalties. We’ve got to execute, and I’m confident that we’ll come out on top if we do that.”

Tigers DL Derrick Brown said he likes the position the Tigers are in heading into the big game:

“I think we have put ourselves in a great position,” explained Brown. “All we have to do is listen to the coaches and have a great week of practice and just take it to the next game.”

It sure looks like the game will be one to remember.

Kickoff for next Saturday’s Iron Bowl is set for 3:30 pm EST on CBS.
