Missouri found itself in a shootout against Arkansas on Black Friday in Fayetteville.

Luckily, it had Drew Lock at quarterback.

Mizzou held off the Razorbacks 48-45 and secured its seventh win of the season — an impressive feat considering the Tigers started the year at 1-5.

A respectable bowl game should be on the horizon for Barry Odom’s squad.

Here are a few takeaways from the game:

Drew Lock makes history

It was just another day at the office for Lock, as he threw for 448 yards and five touchdowns against the Hogs. But this one meant a little more. Lock eclipsed Andre Woodson’s SEC record for passing touchdowns in a single season. Lock, who came into the game with 38 TD passes, threw three more in the first half of Friday’s game. That was good enough to pass Woodson’s 40-touchdown mark, which he set in 2007.

Mizzou’s defense needs help

Not to be negative here, because, hey, a win is a win. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for Mizzou, despite the fact it has won six games in a row. While the Tigers’ offense is an exceptional asset (696 total yards), the defense is an excruciating liability. Mizzou gave up 446 yards of offense and 45 points. That’s not going to be good enough if the Tigers hope to take the next step and contend for the SEC East next year.

Barry Odom deserves a raise

While Odom needs to make some changes with his defense, it can’t be overlooked that he was able to motivate a 1-5 football team to finish the season with a 7-5 record. Say what you want about Odom’s in-game coaching, his X’s and O’s, time management, whatever … but you can’t knock his ability to motivate. That means a lot. Perhaps Missouri should consider extending his contract.
