Peyton Manning is getting set to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame Tuesday, but the legendary QB of the Vols is well aware of the current situation in Knoxville.

The search for a new head coach at Tennessee continues in what has turned out to be an unbelievable journey for the Vols. Tennessee fired AD John Currie Friday and replaced him with Phillip Fulmer, Manning’s head coach during his time in Knoxville.

The program may be close to turning a corner with Fulmer at AD, and it was reported that Georgia DC Mel Tucker will meet with Fulmer for a second interview on Tuesday.

Hope may be coming to the Vols program. Still, there is no denying that it has been a dark and difficult year. Everything from a 4-8 record, to the reported Greg Schiano deal and ensuing chaos, to the failure to land a head coach to this point has made for a tough year for fans to go through.

No one knows that more than Manning:

Tennessee won back-to-back SEC Championships in 1997-98 and a national title in 1998, but the Volunteers have not appeared in the SEC Championship Game since 2007.
