The Vanderbilt Commodores have made a hire to coach Derek Mason’s coaching staff, this time at the special teams coordinator position.

To fill the open spot, the Commodores dipped into the NFL ranks, snagging Cleveland Browns’ assistant special teams coordinator Shawn Mennenga.

Scout.com broke the news of the hire on Twitter on Friday night, as you can see below:

Mennenga had been with the Browns since 2011 and is a Mizzou alum. He also has stops at Western Kentucky, Culver-Stockton, South Dakota State and other schools on his resume.

Mennenga played at Missouri in 1992 as a defensive back, earning a varsity letter.
