You have to hand it to Kirk Herbstreit, he’s bringing the heat to his first NFL Draft coverage for ESPN.

Despite being a staple of ESPN’s college football coverage for years, the College GameDay analyst has never been a member of the network’s draft coverage until now. For college football junkies, Herbstreit’s addition is a welcome sight, as he brings a more college-centric discussion to the draft’s coverage.

Considering his mind revolves around college football, you had to know any discussion regarding an Alabama prospect could lead Herbstreit into the biggest ongoing storyline in Tuscaloosa — the quarterback controversy between Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa.

When discussing Calvin Ridley, and more specifically his numbers with Hurts throwing him the ball, the GameDay host wondered aloud how much better the receiver’s stats could have been with Tua throwing him the ball more often.

Video of the exchange was posted to Twitter by Bama Insider.
