Anthony Schwartz was recently named Gatorade’s National Athlete of the Year but the way the Auburn signee sees it, that’s just the first of many achievements coming his way.

The four-star signee from Fort Lauderdale has his sights set on achieving much more than arguably any freshman has ever accomplished in his first season on campus. Schwartz’s goals aren’t limited to one sport, either. Not only is he an elite receiver prospect, he’s arguably a better track prospect. Having set the Florida state records in the 100 meters (10.07) and 200 meters (20.41) dashes this spring, Schwartz now plans to achieve the highest honor an American track member can reach — joining the Olympic team.

In an interview with Tom Green of AL.com, Schwartz said he hopes to qualify for four American teams in the 2020 summer Olympics, set to be held in Tokyo. In addition to that goal down the road, Schwartz was asked to provide his immediate goals at Auburn. He didn’t leave any box unchecked giving his answer.

“On the football field I want to become a Freshman All-American and be able to help my team to an SEC title and national title. Then, on the track side, I want to be able to be another Freshman All-American, be the Bowerman Award recipient, which is the Heisman for track. Then, I know it’s kind of big, but break the collegiate records in the 100-meter and the 60-meter, and win a national championship in the 60 and 200 indoor, and then the 100 and 200 outdoor.”

You certainly can’t suggest Schwartz is lacking in confidence or career aspirations. While the 2018 Under Armour All-American won’t be on Auburn’s campus this entire offseason, he plans to participate in the U20 World Championships in Finland, there’s nothing a football coach can do to train the other receivers on the Tigers roster to burn down the field like Schwartz. Given Jarrett Stidham’s ability to throw the deep ball, these two could make for a lethal combination come the fall.

To get an idea of how terribly outmatched high school defensive backs were against Schwartz, check out his senior season highlight reel. He was routinely 5-10 yards downfield from the defender assigned to him by the time the ball got to his hands.
