Many Alabama fans will be tuned into Atlanta Falcons games this season.

Yes, some college football fans aren’t huge NFL fans, but Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley give Alabama fans a big excuse to watch.

Jones, of course, is one of the NFL’s most prolific players, and the Falcons just drafted a prolific college player in Ridley. Both played for Nick Saban, and he knows them as well as anyone.

The Atlanta Falcons official website sat down with Saban recently, and he explained to Atlanta fans what they’re getting in this prolific duo.

“I think they’ll both do a great job as competitors,” Saban said of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, “and I think they’ll be good teammates and they’ll affect other people in a positive way. And I think in professional sports, that’s a real plus.”

Speaking about Jones specifically, he explained how he helped change the entire culture and help make Alabama the dynasty it is today.

“I think one thing Julio sort of reflects the culture,” Saban said. “Those guys came here when we weren’t any good. Julio Jones decided to come to Alabama when we were 6-6. They sort of accepted a challenge to make Alabama something special. So, they created the standard, and he was a big part of that — the kind of player he was, the kind of competitor he was, the work ethic he had, the intangibles that he played with.”

Saban went on to explain how Alabama actually had to pull back the reins on Ridley during his time in Tuscaloosa.

“One of the things about Calvin that we always had to do here is we had to have a Catapult System on him, which is like a GPS, to measure his workload because he would work so hard, run so many routes, he’d run himself right in the ground. So you had to pull back because he’ll just keep running until he can’t run.”

Jones and Ridley will go down as two of the best position players in Alabama history, and now, they’re teammates in Atlanta.
