The Georgia Bulldogs are riding high, and after reaching the National Championship Game a year ago, anything less this season will be a disappointment. They are strong on both sides of the ball and have a very favorable schedule.

It could be a record-breaking year in many ways, but here are six  school records that I think will fall this year:

1. Georgia will have a 1,000-yard rusher for a fifth consecutive season

That’s never happened and, in fact, when Nick Chubb topped 1,000 yards last year (a few weeks before Sony Michel joined him), that was the first time the Bulldogs had done it four years in a row, which is shocking considering the great history of Georgia running backs.

(In case you were wondering, Georgia’s leading rusher didn’t top 600 yards in the years preceding and following Herschel Walker’s three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.)

The active streak:

2017: Nick Chubb, 1,345; Sony Michel 1,227
2016: Nick Chubb, 1,130
2015: Sony Michel, 1,161
2014: Nick Chubb, 1,547

Jake Fromm will break the record for passing efficiency

Does this surprise you? It shouldn’t. Last season, Fromm’s efficiency was 160.09, second only to Aaron Murray’s 2012 season (174.82). One thing that Fromm proved last year is that he’s careful with the football, and that should continue this year. He threw only 7 interceptions in 291 attempts a year ago.

Terry Godwin or Riley Ridley make 4 touchdown catches in one game

It’s amazing that the school record for TD receptions in a game is only 3 (shared by four players, most recently Mohamed Massaquoi vs. Georgia Tech in 2008), so something crazy like this might happen, quite possibly in one of those many nonconference cupcake games.

Rodrigo Blankenship will set the single-season scoring record

He came close to breaking it last year with his 123 total points (20 field goals, 63 PATs), finishing only eight points behind record-holder Billy Bennett’s 131-point season in 2003, which was an SEC record. Blankenship will get plenty of opportunities all year.

Playmakers in the secondary will return 5 interceptions for touchdowns

The season record is 4, set in 2000 and 2002. With the Bulldogs likely favored to win every regular-season game, opponents will be throwing often, and those highlight-reel defensive backs will find their way into the end zone.

Lastly, Georgia will win 12 regular-season games for the first time

Yep, I’m calling for an undefeated regular season. With the schedule the way it is, it’s entirely possible. For instance, ESPN’s FPI Index has them as at least a 66.7 percent in every single game (Auburn on Nov. 10 is the lowest). Even in their four SEC road games,  they are no worse that a 77.2 percent (LSU) favorite. That’s projected domination.
