Report: Former Auburn WR Myron Burton Jr. arrested on armed robbery charges
A former Auburn player was arrested in the Atlanta area last week on armed robbery charges.
WSB-TV reported that Myron Burton Jr., 21, who left Auburn in September of 2015, was set for his first court appearance on Monday following a Friday search warrant executed at his Duluth, Georgia apartment.
A spokesman with the Duluth Police Department reportedly told the station that Burton Jr. stormed into China Taste on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard on Tuesday, pointing a semiautomatic pistol at the owner while demanding cash. Police said he left with $300.
Burton was a highly touted receiver coming out of Peachtree Ridge High School in Gwinnett County, which is in the same county where the incident reportedly took place. He had a big spring game in 2015 when Burton made seven catches for 124 yards and a touchdown and was named the offensive MVP. Coach Gus Malzahn at the time called the departure a “mutual decision.”
