Many of LSU’s players and coaches have been impressed with quarterback Joe Burrow since he transferred from Ohio State and arrived on campus.

Former Florida quarterback and SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow wasn’t immediately impressed. But he has since been won over.

“I’ve seen ups and downs. I think there’s been highs and lows,” Tebow said on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Friday. “There’s been parts of it where you looked at him and you said, ‘This is a guy that has some talent, he has a little moxie. He’s kind of tough, kind of athletic.’ And then there’s also, you know, you weren’t sure. Maybe he wasn’t as consistent at practice when you talked to coaches that had seen him for years.”

But Tebow believes that Burrow has a chance to be “the first successful quarterback at LSU since maybe Matt Flynn.”

And if Burrow gets even more comfortable in the Tigers’ offense, then Tebow believes there could be great things coming for LSU fans.

“I think LSU could shock some people this year,” Tebow said. “I really do.”

The Tigers went 9-4 last season, the first full year under coach Ed Orgeron. But some national analysts have predicted them to not perform as well this year.

LSU opens the season against Miami at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
