Alabama may lead the Iron Bowl series 45–36–1 over Auburn, but there’s one facet of the game that the Tigers have always bested the Crimson Tide in, special teams.

We all remember Chris Davis’ kick-six against Alabama in 2013, but the real special part of the special teams has been in the kicking game.

On Thursday, @finebaum tweeted out a pretty shocking statistic that looks really bad for Alabama. The Crimson Tide have already missed three extra points in 2018 and have only connected on 66.7 percent of their field goals.

Auburn has missed just one extra point in five years, and also has a better overall field goal percentage than Alabama.

Alabama has seemingly always struggled with consistency at the kicker position, and this year looks like they are in for more of the same. Auburn and Alabama are arguably the two best teams in the SEC West, and it’s not crazy to think that a College Football Playoff spot or an SEC West title could be decided by another missed extra point or field goal.
