LSU coach Ed Orgeron draws plenty of opinions about his coaching talent, and particularly if he has the chops to return the Tigers to a perennial power, especially in the SEC West.

But when it comes to facing top 25 opponents, there is one number that removes any debate. It puts Orgeron above Les Miles, Gerry DiNardo, and even Nick Saban in the history of LSU coaches.

LSU’s win over Auburn on Saturday pushed Orgeron into a class by himself with seven top 25 wins out of 12 matchups, the most ever. The stats below come from LSU’s Communications Office, and they were released last week before the Auburn game.

The tough schedule isn’t over, of course. LSU is likely to face at least at least three more ranked teams this season, including presumably two in the top five, in Alabama and Georgia.
