Legendary LSU QB says this year’s team is much like the 1958 national championship squad
A member of LSU’s first national championship team thinks this year’s Tigers have all the makings of champions themselves.
In a video tweeted by Jacques Doucet, who covers LSU for a Baton Rouge TV station, former LSU quarterback Warren Rabb said he sees some similarities between the 2018 Tigers and the team he helped lead to a title 60 years ago.

For starters, both squads entered the season picked to be a middling team in the SEC. Much like the 1958 LSU team, the current Tigers have exceeded those expectations by picking up two top-10 wins just a month into the season.
“If they keep getting a little better,” Rabb said, “we’ll beat Alabama.”
That would certainly help LSU live up to the 1958 team’s legacy and claim its fourth national championship.
