Not many teams have had the rash of injuries that Arkansas has experienced this year. Now the Razorbacks have lost another player. This time to retirement.

Dylan Hays, who as a redshirt freshman last year played in 10 games, said the retirement was the hardest thing he’s ever done. Hays began on the defensive line, but moved to the offensive line for three of the last four games of last season.

“Time off and many treatments and procedures did not give us answers we were hoping for,” Hays wrote in a message he posted to Twitter.

At the start of the season, Hays was out with a back injury, and one of several other Arkansas linemen who suffered injuries. Deion Malone (knee), Ryan Winkel (shoulder) and Jalen Merrick (headaches) all suffered either season-ending or career-ending injuries, or other health issues.

Hays said all he ever wanted to do was become a Razorback, and the time he played for the team will be memories he will always cherish.
