False starts are usually one of the easier penalties for a college football referee to call, as it’s usually pretty obvious.

However, even when it appears obvious, sometimes the officials still miss it, as was the case in Auburn on Saturday afternoon.

As the Tigers were at the goal line against Tennessee in the first quarter, a blatant false start was missed, as you can see in the video below:

That’s obviously not a great start from the officiating crew, who may have some questions to answer from the SEC office this week.

We’ll see if they get better as the game goes on — sometimes these early kickoffs are rough for everybody.
