The top challengers for Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s Heisman Trophy bid are becoming clearer.

Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins and Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray were closely paired behind Tagovailoa in ESPN’s newest Heisman Watch released Tuesday. ESPN’s ranking mirrored most odds, which have essentially made the Heisman race into a three-quarterback competition.

But Tagovailoa still enjoys a sizable lead, at least in ESPN’s list determined by a 10-person panel. The ranking is determined by points, which have different values based on where the panelist placed each player (first place through fifth).

The most notable part of this week’s ranking is that Tagovailoa has nine of the possible 10 first-place votes from the panel. The other first-place nod went to Haskins, whose stock has continued rising over the last few weeks.
