Perhaps the biggest upside for Christian Kirk when it came to the NFL draft was his skill as a return man.

But the rookie out of Texas A&M is showing he was worth a second-round pick based on receiving ability alone.

The Arizona Cardinals speedster leads all rookie receivers in receptions with 28 through the first seven weeks of the season, though first-year running backs Saquon Barkley and Nyheim Hines have outpaced him that category so far.

Kirk is was the fifth receiver taken in last year’s draft but has so far outdone them all, even first-rounders D.J. Moore and Calvin Ridley, in terms of catches. Despite having just one touchdown to his name, his 368 yards are second among rookie receivers behind Ridley.

Of course, Kirk has added value as a punt returner — the former Aggie has averaged 7.8 yards over 10 punt returns with a long of 44 yards.
