Mississippi State has lost 10 straight games against Alabama, but Bulldogs coach Joe Moorhead isn’t paying the streak any mind as he prepares his players to face the Crimson Tide this weekend.

“We really don’t look at the game in a historical context, whether it be last year, five years or 10 years ago,” Moorhead said during his Monday press conference. “We have to concentrate on the things we need to do this year. We discussed that in our team meeting yesterday.

“We’re going to have to have great practices. We have to have great urgency and body language. Our scout team will have to be great because it’s almost impossible to replicate what Alabama does in all three phases.”

That’s especially true of this year’s Crimson Tide squad, which is coming off a 29-0 dismantling of No. 3 LSU in Baton Rouge. That was the first time all year that Alabama quarterback and Heisman Trophy frontrunner Tua Tagovailoa took a snap in the fourth-quarter, illustrating just how dominant the top-ranked Crimson Tide has been this year.

“You don’t have to play a perfect game, but you have to be damn near close,” Moorhead said. “They won’t beat themselves. They’ll be well-coached and have a ton of talent.”

Alabama (9-0, 6-0 SEC) has made this SEC West rivalry about as lopsided as possible, but we’ll see if No. 18 Mississippi State (6-3, 2-3) can at least bring a halt to its losing streak when the teams meet at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
