Texas A&M has dealt with a slew of injuries this season, but the Aggies appear to be getting healthier heading into the final stretch of the year.

During his Monday press conference, Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher had positive news about four recently injury players who were sidelined during the team’s 28-24 loss at Auburn last Saturday.

The most reassuring injury update was for junior center Erik McCoy, who will sit out Monday’s practice as a precaution but will play against Ole Miss this weekend. McCoy exited the Auburn game in the fourth quarter but managed to return.

Sophomore safety Derrick Tucker, who missed the Auburn game with what Fisher classified as a shoulder/clavicle injury, is also expected to practice this week and play Saturday.

The outlooks for offensive lineman Jake Hocker and receiver Jhamon Ausbon, both sophomores, are more uncertain. Fisher said Hocker is more week-to-week after suffering a leg injury against Mississippi State on Oct. 27, while Ausbon will practice Monday and is day-to-day following foot surgery in late September.

However, Texas A&M likely won’t get sophomore cornerback Clifford Chattman or junior defensive end Micheal Clemons back from injury this season. Both players have been out for the whole year thanks to injuries in fall camp.

“I doubt it,” Fisher said when asked if the pair could return this season. “If I had to bet on it, probably not.

The Aggies (5-4, 3-3 SEC) host the Rebels (5-4, 1-4) at noon ET on Saturday.
