After announcing earlier this week that defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko is out for the year, LSU coach Ed Orgeron revealed that the Tigers may be without a few other players against Texas A&M this weekend.

Receiver Justin Jefferson and defensive back Kelvin Joseph are both questionable for Saturday’s game, Orgeron said during Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference. The latter injury could hurt the No. 7 Tigers (9-2, 5-2 SEC) more as they are already a little banged up in the secondary.

Orgeron also previewed the regular-season finale against the No. 22 Texas A&M (7-4, 4-3), which is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in College Station. You can read everything Orgeron said during the teleconference below.

On WR Justin Jefferson’s status:

  • He is questionable, but I believe he will play

On DB Kelvin Joseph’s status:

  • He is coming along slower than expected; may be a game-time decision for him.

Who will step up if he can’t go?

  • Terrance Marshall has stepped up, Kary Vincent.

On TE Jamal Pettigrew, his status, could he play in bowl game?

  • We don’t know that yet, good to see the trainer doing a good job with these guys. Very early to tell if he can play in the bowl game, but we’d love to have him.

On LB Devin White:

  • He does an outstanding job. (Defensive coordinator) Dave Aranda has helped him with his fundamentals. His leadership is tremendous. He lights up the building when he comes in, great human being, great Tiger.

How well do you know Jimbo Fisher?

  • I know him in passing; we never worked together. I think he’s an excellent coach, an excellent recruiter. You can see the difference in his team already/

On Texas A&M RB Trayveon Williams:

  • He has improved, he’s tough. The offensive line and the scheme allows him to have production. He catches the ball out of the backfield. He’s probably the best running back we will face this year.

On Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond’s progression:

  • His release, his quickness. The ability to make good reads. He can run, he can scramble to run, but he keeps his eyes downfield.

On recruiting after A&M game:

  • We’re going, man! We are focusing on A&M now, but last week we sat down and made the schedule. We are looking forward to it. I will be in the homes of the two best prospects in Louisiana on Sunday.

On Les Miles:

  • I’m happy for him, I really am. Kansas got a great coach. Great to see a smile on his face. Everyone from LSU wishes him the very best.
