South Carolina is headed to familiar location for its bowl game, though the Gamecocks have yet to play in the postseason in this close-to-home destination.

South Carolina will face Virginia on Dec. 29 in the Belk Bowl at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

The Gamecocks, coming off a 28-3 win over Akron on Saturday, are 7-5 and 4-4 in the SEC, which was fourth in the SEC East. The Cavaliers are 7-5 and also finished 4-4, which was third in the ACC Coastal Division. The Cavaliers’ regular season was capped by a 34-31 loss to Virginia Tech. Three of the four conferences losses came in the last four games, including to Pitt and Georgia Tech.

The Gamecocks have played regular season games in Charlotte three times. They are 3-0 at Bank of America Stadium, most recently defeated NC State, 35-28, to open the 2017 season. South Carolina will return to this stadium to face North Carolina on Aug. 31 next season.

The Belk Bowl will kick off at noon Eastern on ABC.
