Former Tennessee offensive coordinator Tyson Helton has plucked a support staff member from Tennessee for his new staff at Western Kentucky.

Montario Hardesty, a quality control assistant, has been hired to coach running backs, according to multiple reports, including Jayson Swain. This past season was Hardesty’s first in an off-the-field role in Knoxville after he coached at Florida Atlantic under his old coach Lane Kiffin.

Hardesty previously coached the running backs and was the special teams coordinator at Norfolk State in 2015. The former Tennessee back is most remembered for his senior season in 2009 under Kiffin. He rushed for 1,345 yards and 14 total touchdowns. Hardesty was a running back at Tennessee from 2005-09.

He spent multiple seasons in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns before he became a coach.
