Texas A&M continued its awesome recruiting run Wednesday at the expense of a fellow SEC team.

The Aggies signed quarterback Zach Calzada on the first day of the Early Signing Period, stealing a Georgia native from the suddenly quarterback-needy Bulldogs. Georgia made a late push for Calzada after former 5-star prospect Justin Fields obtained transfer paperwork, but he decided to honor the commitment he made back in June.

According to 247Sports.com’s composite ratings, Calzada is a 3-star prospect who ranks No. 18 among pro-style quarterbacks and 49th overall in the state of Georgia. His commitment adds another player to the Aggies’ third-ranked recruiting class while leaving Georgia scrambling to add another scholarship quarterback behind Jake Fromm for spring practice.

The Bulldogs, however, were able to flip 4-star Ohio State quarterback commitment Dwan Mathis shortly after, making Calzada’s decision to join Texas A&M sting a little less.
