UPDATE: Green Bay has officially announced the hire of Luke Getsy as QBs coach.

Mississippi State assistant Luke Getsy is returning to the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Getsy will become the Packers’ quarterbacks coach after spending one season with the Bulldogs. The 34-year-old was Mississippi State’s offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach in 2018. Prior to coming to MSU, Getsy worked with the Packers for four seasons (2014-17), more specifically the receivers, and he developed the likes of Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams while in Green Bay.

The Packers hired the Titans’ offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur as their new head coach, and he tabbed Getsy to coach his quarterbacks, who is said to have a great relationship with Aaron Rodgers.

MSU head coach Joe Moorhead is Getsy’s mentor; so, this decision wasn’t easy for him. Getsy played for Moorhead at Akron and set 24 individual records in two seasons.

He later became a graduate assistant under Moorhead, too.
