One of Florida’s recent signees has made his feelings public when it comes to the possibility that Todd Grantham could be leaving Gainesville.

If you haven’t heard the news, the Cincinnati Bengals have focused their sights on Grantham to become the franchise’s next defensive coordinator. Grantham met with the team on Tuesday to interview for the position and is reportedly meeting with the team on Wednesday with an offer in hand to take the job.

Most Florida fans want to see Grantham return for another season in Gainesville and they clearly aren’t alone as four-star Florida linebacker signee Mohamoud Diabate offered up his take following the news. The Auburn, Ala., native, who signed with the Gators over offers from Alabama, Auburn and Florida State, jokingly offered to pay the Bengals to back away from Grantham.

All kidding aside, this is among the toughest parts of college football as recent signees often find out soon after signing their scholarship papers that they may have to play for a different coach then they were led to believe would be on staff. Although, if Grantham does take the Bengals job, which is still an uncertainty at this point, Mullen should manage to hire an elite defensive coordinator to take his place in Gainesville.

When you consider Mullen has had four defensive coordinators in his previous five seasons, there may not be another college coach in the nation as experienced in selecting a new leader on that side of the ball.
