Dan Mullen has brought back a familiar face in Gainesville.

Per the Gainesville Sun’s Graham Hall, the Gators added Chuck Heater to their quality control staff. Heater, of course, coached under Urban Meyer from 2005 to 2010. He started as the cornerbacks coach and recruiting coordinator from 2005-07. He then moved into the assistant defensive coordinator role coaching the safeties. During Meyer’s last season in 2010, Heater was the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

As the recruiting coordinator at Florida, Heater was in charge of putting together some of Florida’s best recruiting classes ever, specifically the 2006 class. It featured 5-stars Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin and Brandon Spikes.

Heater coached the safeties at Maryland in 2018. After leaving Florida, Heater also coached at Temple and Marshall.
