South Carolina held its annual spring game Saturday in Williams-Brice Stadium.

Backup QBs Dakereon Joyner and Ryan Hilinski looked rather sharp at times, and that’s great news for the future of the program. Jake Bentley didn’t play much at all, as Joyner and Hilinski took most of the snaps.

The coolest moment of the game was no doubt Parker White being put on scholarship. The Gamecocks had a special video tribute to White announcing he was on scholarship.

Following the game, Will Muschamp spoke to the media:

  • Great to see all the letterman back on campus over 220 were registered.
  • Really good day today.
  • We have a deeper team than we’ve had. We needed more competition, and we’ve gotten that.
  • We accomplished some good things today during the game.
  • I thought about having the QBs live today, but decided against it. He did let them extend plays down the field.
  • Jay Urich is a really good athlete. He competes and plays hard. He’s going to play some QB, receiver and special teams.
  • AJ Turner will play RB and CB.
  • He wants to watch the tape before making evaluations on backup QBs Dakereon Joyner and Ryan Hilinski. Both guys managed the offense well and showed really good things. No leader for the backup job.
  • Loves the quality depth along the defensive line. “They’re going to be really good players for us.”
