Former Georgia running back Elijah Holyfield was one of the most surprising SEC players to go undrafted by Saturday evening. But his football career is not over as he reportedly signed a free agent deal with the Carolina Panthers.

The news was reported by NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. In 27 games with the Bulldogs, Holyfield had 215 carries for 1,340 yards and nine touchdowns. Holyfield will compete  with  Elijah Hood and Jordan Scarlett, one of the Panthers’ draft picks. He’ll also be reunited with former Georgia WR Terry Godwin, who was picked in the seventh round by the Panthers.

Holyfield also averaged 6.4 yards per carry in 2018. One of four permanent team captains for the 2018 season, Holyfield had a career-high 115 yards against Kentucky in 2018.
