Kentucky now has No. 1 recruiting class after standout Johnny Juzang commits to Cats
Kentucky now has the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class, thanks to some great news on Friday.
Four-star sharp-shooter Johnny Juzang (Studio City, California) announced his commitment to Kentucky Friday afternoon. The Cats then followed up his announcement with a statement after he signed his National Letter of Intent.
Juzang is a big-time addition for the Cats, and he recently reclassified to the 2019 recruiting class. He shared his commitment on Instagram:
Juzang averaged 23 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in high school. He shot over 43 percent from 3-point range, too. We’re not sure how much of an immediate impact he’ll make in 2019, but he certainly adds to a deep roster and recruiting class.
Calipari also offered a statement about his newest signee.
“Johnny can really score the basketball,” UK head coach John Calipari said. “You’re talking about a kid who has a college-ready body, which is why I was in full support of him reclassifying. When he told us he was doing it, I said let’s do this. He can really shoot the basketball and has a great skill set, but what I love about him is his will to win, his fight and competitiveness. He likes to play physical and can shoot over the top of defenders, plus he’s a very good rebounder for his age. He’s a smart player who is really going to make us a different team next year.”
The Cats have the nation’s best recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The addition of Johnny Juzang gives John Calipari his seventh No. 1 recruiting class at Kentucky in 11 years (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019) https://t.co/sNdhGTnnMh #BBN pic.twitter.com/EPQFUT51EN
