Jordan Bone had to wait a long time to hear his name called in Thursday night’s NBA Draft.

Prior to being picked, Bone’s brother, Josh Bone, took the microphone to offer some empathy and encouragement to his younger brother. It looked like the younger Bone wasn’t going to be picked at all, but then, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.

“You know I have to put my two cents in, little bro,” Josh Bone said. “I’m hurt right now, probably more hurt than he is, but I doubt it.”

“Hey man, from this day forward, if you’re in this room, outside, y’all, the people that …”

Then, it happened. The crowd started going wild, and Bone was mobbed. Bone was drafted by the Pelicans at No. 57 overall.

The Pelicans pick ultimately belonged to the Atlanta Hawks, who traded the rights to the Detroit Pistons. So, Bone is a Piston, and they got one of the best athletes in the entire draft.

Bone averaged 13.5 points and 5.8 assists this past season for the Vols.
