Auburn has made moves to juggle its 2022 schedule.

The Tigers will now play Mercer as the season opener, instead of Nov. 19, according to reports from FBSSchedules.com and AL.com. Now the game will be played on Sept. 3 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn last met Mercer in Week 3 of the 2017 season.

Auburn administrators and their counterparts at Mercer amended the contract a year ago.

The Bears will be one of three nonconference opponents already scheduled for Auburn that season.

Penn State will travel to Auburn on Sept. 17, and Western Kentucky will replace the original Mercer date, a week before the Iron Bowl that season.
