Former Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is set to undergo surgery on his knee on Tuesday, Pete Carroll announced following the Seahawks preseason loss to the Vikings Sunday.

“DK’s got an injury to his knee that we found after a couple days,” Carroll told reporters. “It happened a few days back. So there’s something. We’re gonna do some work on it Tuesday and get him back in a hurry. So we’re disappointed for him because he was off to a fantastic start, but I don’t think this is gonna derail him for long. But he does have to have some work done, and we’ll know more about that when we get back into town.”

Carroll also seemed confident that Metcalf won’t be out too long and may be ready for Week 1, and there’s also been no other details on the surgery itself.

The Seahawks drafted Metcalf in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The talented receiver caught 67 passes for 1,228 yards and 14 touchdowns during his two-year Ole Miss career.

Metcalf exploded onto the scene at the NFL Combine. He turned everyone’s head with his ridiculous 1.9 percent body fat, and then, he made them drool over his 4.33 40-yard dash.
