Jimbo Fisher’s defense will be down one starter following a suspension to a cornerback.

The Texas A&M coach said Debione Renfro was suspended for a violation of team rules.

Asked if it will be a one-game suspension, Fisher said, “We will see how it goes.”

Renfro is listed at 6-foot-2 and 198 pounds. He appeared in every game last season with 37 tackles and five pass breakups, which was third on the team. Perhaps two of his best games came against Mississippi State when he had six solo tackles, and he made a season-high of 10 tackles, including a sack for an eight-yard loss against No. 7 LSU.

Questions of Renfro’s status first came up earlier Thursday when he was not on the initial depth chart released by the Aggies despite practicing with the first-team throughout the preseason.

The Aggies kick off next Thursday, Aug. 29, against Texas State.
