Nick Chubb’s reputation in the NFL continues to grow, and now the Cleveland Browns are set to expand his role in the offense.

The former Georgia running back had a solid rookie season in 2018 with 996 yards, a Browns rookie record, on a 5.2 yards-per-carry average with eight touchdowns. Chubb also had 20 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns. He may be most remembered in 2018 for a 92-yard touchdown against Atlanta, which was the longest run in Browns history and the second-longest by a rookie in NFL history. He also recorded the second-most scrimmage yards by a Browns rookie in a season with 1,145.

But many expect him to have a greater impact this season, including Cleveland running backs coach Stump Mitchell, who called him arguably the MVP of training camp, according to Cleveland.com.

“I think he’s going to be special like he was last year,” Mitchell said. “He’ll be used a little more in the passing game than he was last year. Nick just continues to improve on the skillset that he has, and I think he has a fantastic skillset.”

At Georgia, Chubb in 2017 had four catches for 30 yards, and in 2016, had five catches for 86 yards and a TD.

The Browns took Chubb in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
