After a couple penalties and injuring Jets quarterback Trevor Siemian, former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett has been defending his reputation this week. Garrett responded Thursday to any critics who have been calling him dirty for his performance on Monday night.

“I know who I am, and the guys within these walls who I am. That’s not me,” Garrett said during a press conference. “I’m not going to do anything to try to hurt this team or try to take out any player outside of the rulebook.

“I’m not trying to do anything dirty. I’m not trying to injure anybody.”

Siemian suffered an ankle injury when Garrett tackled him upon his release of a pass during the first half of the Browns-Jets matchup Monday night, but it was more awkward than late or dirty. Second-year quarterback Luke Falk replaced Siemian, making his NFL debut. Siemian has been ruled out for the season with his ankle injury.

Garrett did commit two roughing the passer penalties, though, and through two games this season, he already has three personal fouls.
