South Carolina suffered a tough loss at Missouri on Saturday where the offense struggled most of the game, and the Gamecocks dropped to 1-3, including 0-2 in the SEC.

The Gamecocks mustered just 16 rushing yards.

Coach Will Muschamp was asked about a possible injury to QB Ryan Hilinski, and he said the freshman missed practice on Wednesday, but was healthy.

“Certainly, he wouldn’t have played if he was hurt,” Muschamp said, according to David Cloninger, and added he was cleared by doctors, and the team needs to do a better job to help Hilinski.

He admitted that fatigue was a factor as Missouri rang up a time of possession edge of 37:50 to 22:10.

Muschamp said he remains supportive of Hilinski, and added that you’re going to have those tough days in the SEC, got to do more to help him on the field.

About the offense, Muschamp said the Gamecocks “did nothing” in the first half, according to SportsTalkSC, and the offensive line “got whipped.” But defensively, the team has improved.

The Gamecocks will be in a must-win situation next week when they play host to Kentucky ahead of an off week.
