Georgia QB Jake Fromm was overcome by emotion on the Sanford Stadium field following a 23-17 victory over Notre Dame on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs needed to have one final defensive stand as Notre Dame had a fourth down pass fall incomplete before the game was decided.

“It’s unbelievable,” Fromm told CBS sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl. “I’m so thankful to be on the field with my teammates, playing for the Dawg Nation, it’s unbelievable.”

The hype and buildup to the game made it even sweeter for Fromm, who was 20-for-26 passing for 187 yards with a touchdown, and he had two carries for 15 yards.

“This is huge,” Fromm said. “This is the first big, really home game, one that’s been hyped up more than normal. I’m so thankful the fans came out. They helped us on third down a ton. It’s unbelievable, we’re thankful to be here.”

After Georgia trailed at halftime, Fromm said it was the constant wearing down of the Notre Dame defense that ultimately paid off.

“We knew we were close,” Fromm said. “It was the body blows, it was the physicality, we just kept hitting them, hitting them, hitting them, and they just finally started wearing on them. So we started being able to run the ball more, started making plays, throwing the ball, it’s just unbelievable.”

He was also glad to not face his own defense.

“They’re great,” he said. “They’re non-stop, they’re relentless and that’s what they did. They came out and played tonight.”
