No matter where you go, you just can’t escape the “Baby Shark” song that has spread like wildfire through pop culture. Unfortunately for Jim McElwain, this proved to be true on Saturday when his Central Michigan squad played at Miami.

The Hurricanes’ PA system decided to troll the former Florida coach with the song, recalling the moment in 2017 when a picture of a naked man that resembled McElwain laying on a shark went viral, with questions of whether or not that was actually the coach.

Of course, the picture was brought up at SEC Media Days that summer and McElwain went in on a rant about how it affected him.

“What it did that actually not only attacked the university, but attacked my family, when you know it’s not you,” he said. “You know, I bust chops with the best of ’em, now. And yet, when it got personal.”

While the issue sort of died during his last season in Gainesville, his ousting as coach was maybe even weirder. After making up false accusations of having death threats sent to him following a 3-4 start, athletic director Scott Stricklin told him that they were going to fire him with cause. They came to a mutual agreement and that was the end of his tenure at Florida.

As for the game on Saturday, the Chippewas came close to pulling off the upset, losing 17-12 to the Hurricanes.
