Did Notre Dame players fake injuries during Saturday’s game against Georgia? Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly has twice stated that that didn’t happen.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart didn’t want to address the situation when he spoke with reporters on Tuesday. Although he did give his general overall opinion about players faking injuries during games.

“No. 1, my opinion does not matter whether I think they did or they didn’t,” Smart told the media. “It has no bearing whatsoever, so I don’t think I even need to answer that question. But whether it goes on in college football or not, sure, I think it goes on.”

The conversation about Notre Dame faking injuries started when CBS analyst Gary Danielson mentioned a Fighting Irish player appearing to get pulled down by a teammate during Saturday’s game. That led to the topic being discussed at Kelly’s press conference, during which he denied it happening.

Whether or not it happened, it didn’t change the outcome of the game. The No. 3 Bulldogs pulled out a 23-17 win over the No. 10 Fighting Irish in a non-conference battle of two of the top teams in the country.

Now, Georgia will move on to its next game, which won’t come until after a bye this weekend. The Bulldogs travel to take on Tennessee on Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
