Paul Finebaum wasn’t impressed with Clemson in Week 5 after the narrow win over North Carolina. The Tigers needed to stop the Tar Heels on a two-point conversion to secure the 21-20 win in Chapel Hill.

So, that meant that Finebaum actually dropped Clemson out of his top four this week. The team that replaced the Tigers was the Oklahoma Sooners. OU thumped Texas Tech Saturday 55-16 behind quarterback Jalen Hurts.

“I would drop them out of the top four,” Finebaum said of Clemson Sunday morning. “Listen, the question is are they one of the four best teams in the country right now. They are not one of the four best teams. They will get to the Playoffs because they won’t see anyone of consequence, but they’re not better than Alabama. They’re not better than Ohio State. Then, you can look around and match them up against Georgia. No, they’re not better than Georgia either.”

So, how does Finebaum’s top four look after Week 5? Well, the SEC Network radio host and analyst has the Buckeyes ranked No. 1 after blowing out Nebraska 48-7 behind Justin Fields’ four touchdowns. Alabama closely follows Ohio State at No. 2.

Finebaum hopped on SportsCenter Sunday morning to reveal his updated top four, which includes two SEC teams:

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes
  2. Alabama Crimson Tide
  3. Georgia Bulldogs
  4. Oklahoma Sooners

Two other SEC teams are on the outside looking in this week: Auburn and LSU. Auburn faces a top 10-ranked Gators team next week in Gainesville, while LSU hosts Utah State.
