There are few people more happy than coach Will Muschamp with a win after several disappointing losses.

That joy was on full display in the South Carolina locker room following the 24-7 victory over Kentucky in a game dominated by the Gamecocks’ defense and running game.

“The bottom line number one, continue to have faith in yourself,” Muschamp said. “Number two, your teammates and number three what we’re doing. Got a lot of ball to play and we’re going to have some great nights. When we’re able to run the football like that, and when we stop the run like that, we’re a damn hard team to beat, damn hard team to beat.”

Muschamp also presented the game ball to new President Robert Caslen, who saw his first SEC win and night game at Williams-Brice Stadium.

The Gamecocks, who improved to 2-3 and 1-2 in the SEC, are off this week, and will return to action on Oct. 12 against Georgia in Athens.
