It would appear the University of Mississippi may have underestimated how poorly its recent decision to name a new chancellor would go.

If you aren’t caught up on the latest in Oxford, the school recently hired an organization called Institutions of Higher Learning, known as the IHL, to conduct a search process to hire a new chancellor. After two days of searching, the IHL voted to name former IHL commissioner Glenn Boyce the new Ole Miss chancellor.

The search for a new chancellor was expected to take several weeks, not two days.

The story has been well chronicled by Mississippi Today writer Adam Ganucheau.

The school was scheduled to announce Boyce as the new chancellor at a press conference from Oxford on Friday but protestors helped shut it down. In response to the backlash, the local police called the press conference.
