South Carolina has rarely been in the position it finds itself this week, coming off a huge upset win as an unranked team at No. 3 Georgia. Coach Will Muschamp is well aware that handling prosperity may be as difficult as the kind of adversity the Gamecocks faced after a 1-3 start.

“That’s the big challenge we have this week,” Muschamp said on “SEC This Morning” on the SEC Network. “We’ve got a really good Florida team coming in here, and how are we going to respond? Because we’ve never been in this position. We haven’t been in this position as a program for 10 years. So, how are we going to respond to this? That’s the big challenge for us this week.”

The last time South Carolina was in this kind of position came after the upset of No. 1 Alabama a decade ago.

The Gamecocks are about a touchdown underdog ahead of a noon kickoff against Florida in Columbia.

South Carolina appears to be ready for Ryan Hilinski’s return after the freshman quarterback suffered a left knee sprain in the third quarter on a play where he was hit low. Muschamp described the injury as a knee sprain with swelling.

“I’ll know more Tuesday morning about how he’s going to move around,” Muschamp said. “They’re treating him right now, and he’s in good spirits. We’re counting on him playing Saturday.”
