Jarrett Guarantano left Tennessee’s win over South Carolina midway through the third quarter, but coach Jeremy Pruitt revealed after the game that the quarterback would have surgery on Sunday.

Guarantano has a broken bone in his wrist, Pruitt on the Vol Network, Austin Stanley reported.

Will he be available next week? “Sure.”

SEC Network cameras caught Guarantano holding he wrist on his way to the locker room. He was replaced by J.T. Shrout, but he turned in a big game before the injury. A hit by South Carolina LB T.J. Brunson on a follow through may have been what caused the wrist injury.

Guarantano was 11-for-19 passing for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 41-21 win over South Carolina.

It’s been a rough season for Tennessee quarterbacks as Guarantano was only in the game because of a concussion suffered last week at Alabama by Brian Maurer, his second concussion of the season.

Jauan Jennings, a high school quarterback, actually took the first snap for the Vols before Shrout became the main quarterback for the first two series.

No matter who was the quarterback, Tennessee rang up the yards, as the Vols combined for 351 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first win over South Carolina since 2015.
