Ole Miss’ seniors have been through the extreme ups and downs with the program, from winning the Sugar Bowl, to being put on probation. Now the Rebels are set to play their final home game this week against LSU.

Coach Matt Luke said at his regular Monday press conference that it’s a special and unique class because of all that the players have been through.

“They’re a tough group, they’re a mentally tough group that’s been through a lot and I think they’ll look back when they see this program continue to move forward be very, very proud with what they’ve been able to fight through and accomplish,” Luke said. “It’s not the situation you get dropped into …. it’s what’s inside that counts. This group has been very, very tough-minded and have battled all the way through it.”

Luke referred to dropping a potato in boiling water, and how it gets soft, and if you drop an egg in it, it gets hard.

Luke also was asked about coaching against Ed Orgeron, who he coached with for one season.

“He’s done a really good job there of being himself,” Luke said. “He’s done a phenomenal job. They are the No. 1 team in the nation for a reason.”
