Once LSU finished off the win over Alabama, throngs of fans set out for the airport to welcome the victorious Tigers back to town.

QB Joe Burrow has been around town for a while, but this kind of win hasn’t been celebrated at LSU in a long time. So even he was surprised by the fan reaction when the plane landed.

“I didn’t really realize what this meant to Louisiana,” Burrow said. “It was pretty special. I was very surprised to see it, and I just wanted to do anything I could to embrace those people that came out.”

The LSU Football Twitter account even posted a video of the crowds as the buses rolled away, and wrote, “Thank You Tiger Nation!”

If LSU keeps playing like it did Saturday night, it’s safe to say this won’t be the last time fans gather for a party at the airport. In fact, it may be the first of several.

In the mean time, the Tigers are set to take on Ole Miss in Oxford on Saturday.
