Former Florida defensive end Bryan Cox will join the Cleveland Browns roster ahead of Thursday Night Football. The Browns signed Cox one day before playing the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday.

Cox has appeared in 19 NFL games in his career. He came into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017, signing with the Carolina Panthers. In 19 games with the Panthers, Cox posted 17 tackles, including 9 solos, 3.0 tackles for loss, four quarterback hits and one forced fumble.

In 2019, he dressed for the Panthers in Week 9 against the Tennessee Titans. He played 11 defensive snaps and made one tackle, but Carolina waived him on Nov. 8.

His father, Bryan, spent 12 years in the NFL and was actually an assistant coach for the Browns from 2009-10.

Cox played for the Gators from 2013-16. In 51 games, he posted 99 tackles, including 20.5 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks. He also forced three fumbles, recovered two fumbles and posted a pass defense.

To make room on the roster for Cox, the Browns waived linebacker Malik Jefferson. Cleveland enters Thursday with a 3-6 record and will host the 5-4 Steelers.
