Alabama fans likely weren’t pleased when it was announced on Tuesday night that the Crimson Tide had fell to No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings after their loss to LSU this past Saturday.

Apparently, Alabama players had a similar reaction.

Crimson Tide redshirt freshman running back Jerome Ford shared a video on his Instagram of Alabama players in the locker room reacting to the announcement that Georgia was ranked No. 4 in this week’s CFP rankings. The clip was shared by Justin Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine on Twitter:

Although Alabama’s loss to LSU was its first of the season, none of the Crimson Tide’s eight wins have been against a team that is currently ranked. That could change in a few weeks when they play at Auburn in the regular-season finale.

However, there’s an argument to be made that Alabama was still more deserving of the No. 4 spot than its SEC rival Georgia. The Bulldogs’ lone loss is much worse than the Crimson Tide’s, as they fell to South Carolina at home in double overtime last month.

Of course, it doesn’t truly matter which four teams are at the top of the CFP rankings when there are still several weeks of the regular season to unfold. If the Crimson Tide win out, there’s a chance they’ll still get into the Playoff.

If they don’t, it would be the first time that the Tide miss the Playoff since the system was implemented for the 2014 season.

Alabama will look to bounce back when it travels to play at Mississippi State on Saturday at noon ET on ESPN.
