Downfield passing has been a struggle for Georgia this season, but the Bulldogs popped the top off the Auburn defense early in their game on The Plains.

QB Jake Fromm found Dominick Blaylock over the middle for a 51-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter to give Georgia an early 7-0 lead, a welcome change for the Georgia fan base. It was the third play of the drive that began from the Georgia 39-yard line on the Bulldogs’ second drive of the game.

Against Auburn’s strong defensive line, loosening up the Tigers defense with long passes like this may be a recipe for success for Georgia, which is looking to clinch a trip to Atlanta and the SEC Championship Game.

Fromm opened the game 3-for-4 passing for 54 yards.

Georgia, which has won 14 of the last 18 meetings, may not need a lot of offense if its defense continues to play well. The Bulldogs have shut out three of their last four opponents since a double-overtime loss to South Carolina.
