Parting ways with Chad Morris just 22 games into his tenure on November 10, the Arkansas Razorbacks (2-10) wrapped up their season with Barry Lunney Jr. serving as the program’s interim head coach.

Conducting a national search for their next full-time leader, one name has begun to garner some serious traction: Georgia Bulldogs associate head coach/offensive line coach Sam Pittman.

While nothing is official at the time of this writing, several former Razorbacks have given Pittman their stamp of approval on Twitter:

Playing for Pittsburg State (Kansas) from 1980-83, the 58-year-old Pittman began his career in coaching as the head coach at Princeton (Missouri) High School in 1987.

Jumping to the collegiate level as the offensive line coach at Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College in 1991, he took his first FBS job with the Northern Illinois Huskies three years later.

Receiving his first taste of the Big 12 as Missouri’s offensive line coach in 2000, Pittman debuted in the SEC under then-head coach Derek Dooley at Tennessee in 2011.

A member of Bret Bielema’s staff, he arrived in Fayetteville as an assistant head coach/offensive line coach/recruiting coordinator in 2013 and remained until departing for Athens in 2016.
